My name is Claire and I opened a new Eco salon, Alta Hair Studio, just 2 months ago. Before the pandemic I was traveling 40 miles a day to work in a salon I ran on the other side of the Peak District. I used my experience as a salon owner to open a salon in premises which required hard work and a creative eye to see past the outdated decor, mildew walls and poorly maintained rooms of an old charity shop. Part of my challenge was to minimize environmental impact wherever possible whilst creating a high-end salon environment. – Salon Owner Claire
I used REM as I wanted a product that was British-made, not shipped from the other side of the world, and quality to ensure it lasts. Clients love the salon, and always comment on the chairs and backwash. The services I provide in salon are high-quality hairdressing with an emphasis on sustainability. I’m a member of the Green Salon Collective, which means none of the salon waste goes to landfills. I’ve recycled and reused where possible and will continue to expand my environmental credentials as the business grows. – Salon Owner Claire
